This song follows the thoughts and attitudes of a man who wants to face the truth of his past but cannot do it. His desire to accept his failures and lies are overshadowed by his constitutional inability to be honest with himself.
The middle section uses the whole tone scale in order to give a meditative, introspective vibe, as the character ponders his truth. In the end, though, he chooses to cling to his lies.

I shall rummage through my waste in search of freedom from all bondage and the loathing of myself to arrest this rotting from within. The truth is screaming as I claw in desperation through the pit of filth until I find a treasure trove of tiny glass bottles.

Line them up on a shelf.
Fill and seal them with my lies
As I repeat them to myself
Label them by all the colours of the rainbow.
Polish them every morning.
