SOCAN

I tried out for the lead role
And I was sure I’d get it,
But when they called me back
They’d given that part away.
I wouldn’t believe that
I could live my life without it,
But here I am trying out instead-----
For the Fool.
I can do your set design
Or handle properties,
And if the makeup’s wrong
I’ll make sure it’s done again.
I can supervise the wardrobe
Or be the lighting tech,
But here I am trying out instead-----
For the Fool.
I’ll be your understudy,
memorize the lines
In the event the star is home confined.
But you made it clear
you’ve got no faith in me,
So I’ll be your Rogue and Fool.
I can read between the lines.
I can see everybody,
And I can scream and rage
At everyone on the stage.
I can read your feeble mind
And make a mockery of you.
Everybody loves
The Shakespearean Fool.
